In 1985 Jim completed his four year Apprenticeship as a Motor Mechanic and continued to work here at Mercury as a Time Served Mechanic under Ian Forgan Senior. In the early days Jim was involved in total rebuilds of MG and other high performance sports cars.

In 1990 he decided to move on and accepted a job offer working for LandRover, where in 1993 he acheived Master Technician status. One of only 9 mechanics that year to do so. This accolate also granted Jim Associate Membership into the Institute of the Motor Industry.

However, he just couldn't stay away! and after returning to Mercury in 1996 Jim became Head Mechanic and remains so today. With over 25 years in the motor industry and an almost unrivalled understanding of classic sports cars, Jim maintains overall responsibility for the rebuilds of all Classic Vehicles - in particular Classic Ford's. With a keen interest in Rallying Jim attends all events servicing for Ian and Kathryn in their Gold Escort Mk2 together with running the management vehicle as required.
